Copilot AI Leaving WhatsApp

Tech News a month ago 11814 Views

Microsoft has announced that after January 15, 2026, the Copilot AI chatbot will no longer be available on WhatsApp. This change is not a decision made by Microsoft, but rather the result of a policy update introduced by WhatsApp and Meta. Following this update, Meta has restricted third-party AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot from running inside WhatsApp. As a result, users who accessed Copilot through WhatsApp will lose access to the service starting January 15, 2026. Microsoft also noted that WhatsApp chat history is not automatically transferred to Microsoft apps or the web, so users who wish to save their previous Copilot conversations should use the “Export chat” option to back them up before January 15.

However, Copilot being removed from WhatsApp does not mean Copilot itself is being discontinued. Users will still be able to use Copilot in the future through the Copilot mobile app, the Copilot website, and the built-in Copilot experience available in Windows 10 and Windows 11, where Copilot will continue to be available for free.
