Google Expands Gemini AI in Gmail

Google is further expanding Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities within its Gmail service by introducing the Gemini AI inbox experience. This new feature makes reading emails, replying, and managing the inbox faster and smarter than before. Gemini AI operates within Gmail as an “AI assistant.” It automatically performs tasks such as summarizing long email threads, identifying important emails, suggesting reply drafts, and helping users quickly grasp key points within emails. This feature is especially useful for professionals, students, and business users who receive a large volume of emails. A unique aspect is the ability to interact with Gemini AI using natural language prompts (such as English) like “What do I need to do with this email?” or “Write a reply for me.” Google states that these AI capabilities will be gradually rolled out on both Gmail Web and Mobile Apps.

Currently, this service is primarily available to Google Workspace users and accounts with Gemini Advanced support, with plans to expand to more users in the future. From a privacy perspective, Google assures that although Gemini AI is used within Gmail, user data will not be used for ads, and data protection is maintained under Workspace and Gemini AI privacy policies. Overall, the integration of Gemini AI into the Gmail Inbox marks another important step in transforming email from a simple messaging tool into an AI-powered productivity hub.
