Google Expands Quick Share to Pixel 9
Google announced in November 2025 that Quick Share and AirDrop enable secure and wireless file transfers between Android and iPhone devices. This feature was initially limited to Pixel 10 models. However, according to a new report, this functionality is planned to be extended to the Pixel 9 series in the near future. After analyzing the latest Android Canary build (ZP11.251212.007), Android Authority and tipster AssembleDebug revealed that Google has added new system files required to send files from iPhone to Pixel 9 phones via Quick Share. These files were not present in previous Pixel 9 firmware versions. However, it has also been reported that the Pixel 9a model will not receive this feature. The new AirDrop support for Quick Share is only available on Pixel 9 series devices, and is absent on older devices like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Google stated that this feature was initially introduced exclusively for the Pixel 10 series in November, with plans to expand it to more Android devices in the future. Although no specific timeline was provided, it appears that the feature will be rolled out to Pixel 9 devices soon. Using the AirDrop method called "Everyone for 10 minutes" within Quick Share, file transfers occur between Android and iPhone devices. This functionality also works with iPadOS and macOS devices. Google clarified that this process operates entirely on a peer-to-peer connection, with no data exchanged through any intermediary servers. As a result, no transferred files are stored on any servers, ensuring a high level of user data security, Google emphasized.
